STACK has partnered with Workpack to develop Floor Plan AI, which uses artificial intelligence to start basic floor plan Takeoffs automatically. Improved detection and measurement models provide faster, more accurate results and reduce the manual tracing and correction required, particularly on complex floor plans.

Floor Plan AI is available in two modes:

• Floor Plan AI in Draw Mode
• Floor Plan AI Assist

Floor Plan AI in Draw Mode

Floor Plan AI in Draw Mode detects rooms and draws their measurements on the plan sheet. Detected measurements can be reviewed and selected before being added to a Takeoff.

Floor Plan AI Assist

Floor Plan AI Assist searches a plan sheet for selected building components and creates the associated Takeoffs. Detected measurements and counts are drawn on the plan sheet and added to the Takeoff List.

Floor Plan AI Assist can detect:

• Doors: Detects eight door types: Single Swing, Single Sliding, Single Pocket, Single Folding, Double Swing, Double Sliding, Double Pocket and Double Folding. A separate Count Takeoff is created for each detected door type, and a count symbol is added to each detected door.
• Rooms: Detects rooms and calculates their total square footage. An Area Takeoff is created, with each detected room added as an individual measurement.
• Windows: Detects windows and provides the total number found. A Count Takeoff is created, and a count symbol is added to each detected window.
• Walls: Detects interior and exterior walls and creates up to two Linear Takeoffs: one for interior walls and one for exterior walls. Each detected wall segment is added as an individual measurement.

TIP
Floor Plan AI Assist can quickly generate window and door counts or provide the general size of a project without requiring each measurement to be drawn manually.

AI-generated results should always be reviewed before the Takeoffs are used in an Estimate. Results may vary depending on the quality, complexity, scale and drawing conventions of the plan.

Standard Takeoff tools can be used to adjust, add or delete measurements and counts; move measurements using Change Takeoff; apply the Explode and Cutout tools; and add Items and Assemblies.

Key Information

• Floor Plan AI includes Draw Mode and Assist and is available as an add-on to a STACK subscription. Contact a STACK account manager for pricing and access.
• A Full-Access Role is required.
• Floor Plan AI can process only one plan sheet at a time. Work can continue on another sheet or project while results are being generated.
• The scale must be set before using Floor Plan AI.
• Floor Plan AI Assist can be used on any plan sheet but may not work on every sheet. Architectural floor plans generally provide the best results.
• Floor Plan AI in Draw Mode requires the words floor and plan to appear somewhere on the sheet.
• Floor Plan AI in Draw Mode supports all Takeoff Measurement Types except Linear with Drop and Count. The measurement returned depends on the selected Takeoff Measurement Type.
• AI-generated Takeoffs, measurements and counts provide a starting point and may not be completely accurate. All results should be reviewed before use.
• AI-generated results can be edited using the standard Takeoff tools.
• If no matching results are detected, no Takeoffs, measurements or counts are created.
• AI-generated Takeoffs and measurements can be confirmed or reported from the Selected panel. Submitting feedback does not modify the Takeoff or measurement.

Using Floor Plan AI in Draw Mode

Floor Plan AI in Draw Mode detects room boundaries and displays the resulting measurements before they are added to a Takeoff. This allows the detected measurements to be reviewed and selected individually.

NOTE
Floor Plan AI in Draw Mode is available only for projects created after November 5, 2024.

1. Open the plan sheet to measure.
2. Select a Takeoff from the Takeoff List or create a new Takeoff.
3. Click Start Measuring.
4. Apply a Multiplier or Label from the side panel, if needed.
5. Open Takeoff on the Measuring Toolbar and select the AI drawing tool.
6. Detected room measurements appear on the plan sheet.
7. Select each measurement to add to the Takeoff.
8. Click Finish Measuring.

The selected measurements are added to the Takeoff with its existing appearance, Labels, Multiplier and measurement inputs.

TIP
Press T to cycle through the available drawing tools.

TIP
The same detected measurements appear whenever the AI drawing tool is activated on the sheet. This allows additional measurements to be selected or added to another Takeoff.

Using Floor Plan AI Assist

Floor Plan AI Assist automatically creates Takeoffs for selected building components, including doors, rooms, windows and walls. It is useful for quickly generating basic Takeoffs without drawing each measurement manually.

1. Open the plan sheet on which the Takeoffs will be created.
2. Click Assist on the Measuring Toolbar.
   If the sheet has not been scaled, follow the prompt to set the scale.
3. Select the Floor Plan tab.
4. Select one or more components to detect:
   1. Doors
   2. Rooms
   3. Windows
   4. Walls

5. Click Detect.
   
   Processing may take several minutes. Work can continue in STACK while the request is being processed. Updates appear under My Notifications.

   NOTE
   Requests taking longer than five minutes are cancelled. A notification appears if the request is cancelled or fails. Run the request again as needed.
   

   When processing is complete, the generated Takeoffs appear in the Takeoff List. Detected measurements and counts appear on the plan sheet.

6. Review the generated measurements and counts.
   
7. Make any required corrections using the standard Takeoff tools.

TIP
Refresh the page if the generated measurements or counts do not immediately appear on the plan sheet.

Reviewing and Reporting AI Takeoff Results

AI-generated Takeoffs and measurements can be confirmed or reported from the Selected panel. Submitted feedback helps improve future AI results and does not change the existing Takeoff or measurement.

These options appear only when an AI-generated Takeoff or measurement is selected.

Confirming an AI Result

1. Select an AI-generated Takeoff from the Takeoff List or an AI-generated measurement on the plan.
2. In the Selected panel, locate Is this AI takeoff accurate?
3. Click Looks right.
4. A confirmation message appears, and the positive feedback is submitted.

Reporting an AI Issue

1. Select an AI-generated Takeoff from the Takeoff List or an AI-generated measurement on the plan.
2. In the Selected panel, locate Is this AI takeoff accurate?
3. Click Report issue.
   
4. Review or select the applicable issue category:
   1. Missed something
   2. Found something not there
   3. Wrong shape
   4. Misidentified
      
5. Enter a description in the What’s wrong? field.
   
6. Leave Include a screenshot of this view selected to include an automatically captured screenshot, or turn it off to submit the feedback without a screenshot.
   
7. Click Submit.
   
8. A confirmation appears when the feedback has been submitted. The Takeoff or measurement remains unchanged.

NOTE
To report an element that was not detected, select the applicable AI Takeoff in the Takeoff List and choose Missed something. For example, select Rooms (Floor Plan AI) to report a room that was not detected.

NOTE
Reporting an issue does not correct, remove or invalidate the Takeoff. Make any required corrections using the standard Takeoff tools.
