Key Information
Labels are applied at the measurement level and can vary within the same takeoff.
A label icon appears next to measurements that have labels assigned.
Labels allow you to filter, group, and roll up data in the Estimate Worksheet and reports.
Labels can be used to assign Other Costs based on specific measurement groupings.
Labels provide detailed control when organizing data by CSI code, room, phase, or other project structures.
Labels allow measurements to be grouped and filtered based on your project structure. Labels can be assigned to individual measurements to organize data by CSI division, room, floor, building, elevation, phase, or any other breakdown your workflow requires.
When a measurement includes a label, a label icon appears with that measurement for quick visual identification.
Because Labels are applied at the measurement level, different measurements within the same takeoff can have different labels. This provides more detailed control over how data is organized and reported.
Using Labels in Estimates and Reports
Labels can be used throughout the Estimate Worksheet and reports to:
Filter data
Group By label values
Roll Up quantities and costs
Assign Other Costs based on label groupings
This structure is especially useful when estimates need to be organized by CSI code, room, or project phase.
Labels Compared to Takeoff Tags
Labels and Takeoff Tags both support organization, but they function differently:
Labels apply to individual measurements.
Takeoff Tags apply to the entire takeoff and include all associated measurements.
Use Labels when detailed, measurement-level organization is required.
Create Project Labels
These labels will only be available in the project in which they are created.

Using Group Labels
STACK labels allow you to group or filter your takeoff data any way you like. Add labels to each measurement to group by CSI division, room, building, floor, elevation, phase, or any other work breakdown structures your workflow requires. You can group or filter your report and estimate data by the label options you've created.
Add or create project labels from the takeoff tab
These labels will only be available in the project in which they are created.
TIP: For best performance, we recommend creating no more than ten Labels (unlimited options per label) per project.
Start by creating a new takeoff or selecting an existing one to edit.
Once you’re in the active measuring mode, you will see a Labels section at the bottom of the left panel.
From here, you can add an existing label group or create a new one by entering the name (100 character limit).
E.g. Floor, Building, or ElevationSelecting + Add Label will pull up an Edit Label screen and allow you to create new label options for your label group. Click the + icon to add an option (100 character limit).
E.g. 1, 2, east, or westClick Save. (names can be edited, deleted, or organized as needed)
*You can retroactively apply labels to your measurements. Just use the Edit tool to single or multiselect your takeoff(s) and select Finish Measuring once the labels are applied.

Label Preferences
STACK includes a Takeoff Preference that helps streamline measurement workflows by automatically applying the last-used Label values to new measurements.
Configure Label Preferences
Click your Profile icon and open Preferences.
Scroll to the Takeoff section.
Enable or disable: Use last Label values when creating new Measurements
-
Click Save.
NOTE
This setting works on a per-user and per-project basis
How Sticky Label Values Work
When Use last Label values when creating new Measurements is turned on, STACK remembers the most recent Label values used and applies them to new measurements automatically.
How it behaves:
When you measure and assign Label values, those values become the remembered values.
Any new measurement you create automatically uses those same Label values.
If you change a Label value while measuring, STACK updates the remembered values.
Setting a Label to None is also remembered.
Creating a new Takeoff applies the remembered Label values to that Takeoff.
Measuring directly from a Library Takeoff, Library Item, or Assembly also uses the remembered Label values.
Measuring a different set of Label values replaces the remembered values with the new ones.
Each project keeps its own memory of Label values. A brand-new project starts with no Labels selected.
