Set Up Custom Forms in Build & Operate

This article shows you how to connect Custom Forms to your Build & Operate organization, and then to a project. Watch the video above for the whole setup, then use the steps below as a reference. Where one screenshot covers several steps, its numbers match those steps.

Connect Your Organization to Custom Forms

  1. In the left menu, under Organization Info, click Org Settings. Before you connect, Custom Forms Editor is grayed out in this menu.
  2. Click the Integrations tab.
  3. In the Custom Forms card, click Connect.

Org Settings on the Integrations tab. Numbered marks show Org Settings in the left menu (1), the Integrations tab (2), and the Connect button in the Custom Forms card (3).
Steps 1 to 3: Org Settings (1), the Integrations tab (2), and Connect (3).

    NOTE
A message says your organization is connected, but the card shows that you are only partially connected until you upload credentials. An invitation email is also sent to you.

After you click Connect, the card asks you to upload credentials.

Activate Your Custom Forms Account

  1. Open the invitation email and click Activate Account.

  2. On the Create My Password page, enter a password and enter it again. Your email is already filled in. The password needs at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character. Click Save.

    NOTE
This password is only for Custom Forms. It is separate from your STACK sign-in, even though the page and the email carry the STACK logo.

You land in the Custom Forms Editor.

Create Your Credentials File

  1. In the Custom Forms Editor, click Profile in the left menu, then click API Settings.
  2. Under OAuth Confidential Client Application, click Create New OAuth Application. A credentials file in CSV format downloads to your computer.

Use the button under OAuth Confidential Client Application.

    IMPORTANT
Once the application is created, the secret is never shown again. Keep the CSV file safe. If you lose it, you can delete the application and create a new one.

Upload the Credentials File

  1. Return to Build & Operate. In Org Settings, on the Integrations tab, click Upload credentials in the Custom Forms card.

    Click Upload credentials.

    TIP
If you see "Operation failed. Couldn't save credentials," make sure you activated your account from the invitation email first, and that the CSV came from that account's API Settings.

  2. Choose the CSV file you downloaded and click Upload. You see a confirmation, and the Custom Forms card now says your organization is connected, with Replace credentials and Sync links.

Connect a Project

Do this for each project that will use Custom Forms.

  1. With the project selected, click Custom Forms in the left menu. The page says Custom Forms is not enabled for this project yet. Click the link to Project Settings.
  2. On the Integrations tab, click Connect in the Custom Forms card. The card confirms that the project is connected.

Click Connect in the Custom Forms card, not the Procore card.

Open the Custom Forms Editor

  1. Click Custom Forms Editor in the left menu, under Organization Info. The Forms page opens. Its Create menu offers three ways to start a form:

    • Basic Form: create a simple form quickly by uploading your existing PDF.
    • Advanced Form: configure your forms with all dynamic field, screen, and logic capabilities.
    • Describe Your Form: describe your form idea and let AI draft it for you.
