Custom Sized Takeoff Symbol
When I asked Claude to make a custom sized symbol for a takeoff it said that was not one of the options for the API. Is a feature other people have encountered or is it a option that will become available later?

Also Claude is having a hard time picking symbols as it does not have a full symbol catalogue so it is only able to add count takeoffs as checkmarks.

Thanks for flagging this – you're right, setting Symbol Size to Custom (and the inches value) isn't supported through STACK IQ yet, only in the STACK app itself. It's on our roadmap and our team is actively scoping the work now.
One note that may be relevant if you're working on an older project: Custom Symbol Size requires every measurement on that takeoff to have a scale assigned. Projects created before Custom Symbols launched may have legacy count measurements without a scale, which disables the Custom option until scale is added to each one. If Custom looks greyed out for you, that's likely why – assigning scale to the measurements will unlock it.

Thanks for replying David! I also wanted to bring to your attention my comment about the symbol catalogue. As I have been messing around Stack IQ I have found it difficult to get Claude to set up our takeoffs with the correct symbols since its not able to read the list of symbol options within Stack.

Would love to know more about how you are using it… care to share some examples?
I am currently using it as a part of building Claude skills to help setup projects. The two main things are project setup and takeoff creation. I am using a takeoff template that Claude ready easily to setup the takeoffs that follows our SOPs which is how I have run into the symbol and symbol size issues.
Mitch Hemington with this morning's release of STACK IQ enhancements you'll be able to set the symbol size from Claude or ChatGPT.
