Utilizing the Perimeter of Area Takeoff Measurements

You can add Items or Assemblies with “Lin Ft” as their Unit of Measure to Area Takeoffs. This will cause those Items to calculate cost, and quantity based on the distance measured for the Perimeter of any measurements you place with that Area Takeoff.

Another useful way to utilize the Perimeter of area measurements is to use the “Explode” tool. 

The Explode tool lets you turn the Perimeter of your Area measurement into it’s own Takeoff. 

For example: If you want the Perimeter of an area measurement to measure in Sq Ft so that it can represent the surface of walls, you can select the measurement in question, then open the “Explode” tool from the “Edit” menu in the toolbar on the right side of your screen to turn the “Perimeter” of that measurement into a “Surface Area” Takeoff.
